In a bit of fun, the track owner decided to provide 4 cars to run in a magnet car Christmas race.......this may never happen again BTW.
Anyway, with each car staying on it's designated lane, it was only the drivers who swapped, and with no practice or tyre treatment it was a very interesting exercise in seeing who could adapt quickly to the challenges of driving a car with magnetic downforce only. As it turned out....this was nobody !
The most "fun" was had by the Marshalls however as barrel rolls, huge rear-enders & T-Bones were the norm, rather than the exception. And if 1 car came off, then it was usually 1 off, all off...in a big way !
The robustness of the cars were certainly tested & to be fair, apart from braids being absolutely shredded toward the end of the 300 or so laps each car had to do, there was remarkably little body damage. Still waiting to see how many motors I'll need to replace though.
In the results, the top end was slightly dominated by those drivers who have had some recent magnet driving experience on their local track, and Callan took out the win from Bruce with 104 & 103 laps respectively.
In 3rd, and it seems a huge fan of Magnetic racing, Rob pipped the track owner by about 1 car length with both of us finishing on 102 laps.
