Race Report - Round 1
What a wonderful array of Revoslot Group 2 cars we saw on the form up grid this week, as we prepared for round of the new series.
A very good number of 14 drivers fronted up as well, so it was 2.30 minute heats that was programmed into the system & away we went.
Now, these little cars can be notoriously difficult to get running smoothly, almost entyrely to do with tyres, but many competitors had managed to work wonders & before long there were many of the little beasts flying around the track very nicely.
The nicest of all, with an almost obscene combination of speed and handling was the BMW of Adrian Gray. Adrians car took a very closely fought 2nd place in the previous series, and it certainly looks as though he has the bit between the teeth to make amends this time round.
His lap total of 98 laps with a fastest lap of 4.1 ensured a solid win in round 1 by 2 laps. In 2nd this week was last time series winner Phil Kalbfell, who shoes that once again his Opel-Gemini will be very much in contention. His 96 laps place him 3 laps clear of 3rd place getter Dave Schofield in his Alfa on 93 laps. So 3 different cars in the top 3 positions, which is always a good sign for the class.
4th place this week, and in a welcome return to racing was Rhys Filbee, who matched Schoee’s 93 laps, but just missed out on track position. Rhys has lost none of his driving ability & has turned up with what looks like a very nicely balanced car.
A tight battle for 5th was fought out between 2 drivers finishing on 89 laps. Myself, in the 2nd Opel, & Blair in his Alfa shared this total, but luckily it was myself who was able to grab the position on track by a small margin.
All alone in 7th on 88 laps, JB in another Alfa, 1 lap ahead of 8th place Dave Bantoft in yet another Alfa.
9th on 87 laps, was Ben Lewis in welcome sight, the first of the new Datsun 510s, with Scott rounding out the top 10 on 84 laps in the 2nd identical liveried BMW to Adrians.
Also on 84 laps, in his grey ghost Datto, Luke McConnon lost out position on track to finish 11th, with Caine Kalbfell marking his return to racing by finishing 12th on 83 laps in the Phil prepared Escort.
13th fell to Dave Gray (81 laps), and in 14th, the unlucky driver of the week, Callan Thomas.
Callans Escort had started in brilliant fashion, and with heat totals of 33 & 34 in the first 2 lanes, he was looking like taking out a very close win….until a mechanical disaster railroaded his effort in his last heat. Still, his potential was evident, and with a fastest lap only marginally off Adrians, his car will be the 1 to watch in upcoming rounds.

Race Report - Round 2
A small but keen field of drivers fronted up to John’s Stratton Valley track this week, along with a surprise guest! Good to see Stack come along for a look after a good while out of action. Hopefully we might see him with a controller back in hand at some stage.
The small field did not lessen the competitiveness of the racing though, and there were some close results all the way down the sheet.
Callan it was though taking out the win clearly (in the absence of Adrian) with his 81 lap total some 5 laps clear of the next best driver.
After this it tightened up somewhat however.
In 2nd, in a great drive, Schooe’s 76 laps put him 1 lap clear of 3rd placegetter, Phil, on 75.
On 74 laps, 2 drivers shared the total, but it was Rob Golley who coasted to a stop 1 corner past the writer on track & therefore took 4th over myself in 5th.
From here on it was 3, 2, 1, 0……or to be more specific, DB in 6th on 73 laps, JB in 7th on 72, Rhys in 8th on 71 & Blair taking out 9th on 70 laps for the night.
Only 6 laps from 2nd to 9th, with the class proving close one again (as long as drivers can escape the quite regular mechanical issues that seems to befall the Group 2 cars.

Race Report - Round 4
The halfway point in the Revoslot group 2 series was crossed this week, with round 4 at Mornington Park. And being round 4 it’s an interesting stage of the series to also check out the points table, 1 week before the dropped point round comes into effect.
Another win from Callan, his 3rd in a row with a massive total of 122 laps, has almost negated his disastrous 14th in round 1….a result that will be erased from the memory come round 5.
Yet another very solid & quick performance form Adrian Gray netted him 117 laps for 2nd on the night, and it was a battle royale between Callan & Adrian for fastest lap of the round. Callan put the first score on the board with a lightning lap with the Escort on yellow of 4.147, however Adrians BMW run on yellow also proved quick and his 4.119 proved the best 1 off lap.
In 3rd this week, and continuing his very good form, was Schoee’s Alfa on 114 laps, just 1 lap clear of the other form driver of the series, Blair in his other identical Alfa, who grabbed 4th with his 113 lap total.
He, in turn, was 1 lap clear of the next candidate (myself) who managed to rack up 112 laps for 5th without any car mechanical failure from the Opel this week, so that was a bonus.
In 6th, and on 110 laps was the 2nd Opel of Phil, which was 3 laps clear of the vary quick but slightly unstable Datto of Ben who finished in 7th on 109 laps.
Next in line were a plethora of Alfas starting with JB, who shared Bens total of 109, but John had to settle for 8th on track in the end. Another Alfa, the gold & while livery of Rob took out 9th on 108, followed by the twin sister car of DB in 10th on 104 for the night. Dave Gray rounded out both the Alfas, & the night by finishing in 11th with a total of 96 laps.
Some good variation of cars up in the first 4…….but interest drops away very quickly in the rest of the Alfa dominated field.
Someone mentioned, after racing, allowing the Mazda Rx7 into this category ……I wonder how long it would take for the Alfas to be dropped like a hot potato if this were to take place…I reckon you could count it in seconds !
(BTW……it’s not happening, so no panic)
So, how are we situated in the points tally after round 4?
Well, Schoee is the dark horse, and currently sits atop the table by 1 point from Phil. However, 3rd place Callan, and Adrian Gray in 7th will be licking their lips in anticipation for the dropped point round next week. This will throw the results around somewhat.
