Porsche Cup - Round 1 (January)
After the highly successful introduction in 2024 of the Revoslot Porsche GT2 as the default model for the Porsche Cup, it was therefore quite interesting to see a push coming from some parts to once again change the model involved. So what, we asked, could we look forward to in such a proposal? It would take something even more developed than the well-made, beautifully presented & balanced Revoslot models to push this out of the Porsche Cup for 2025…..
Well……this the promoted model in question…..the Scalextric 911 Carrera 3.0 RSR.
So, Revoslot GT2s it was again then and it was onto the first round of the new yearly series.
There were some drivers though who had been busy in the off season (of a month) and exciting new liveries appeared on the grid with both Callan & Schoee bringing out lovely new models to bring to the fray. Sadly, for the majority of the field, Adrian Gray elected to just run the same old car, with having done basically no work on it in 4 weeks. So, of course, this being the runaway series winner last year, things did not bode well for the rest of the field in round 1.
What was interesting though, was seeing the overall results (Laps & times) of many drivers far exceed the laps & times set in the last round run at the same venue last year, which was Septembers round.
The winning driver on that day (Phil) set a total of 107 laps, which was equalled by Adrian & Callan.
In round 1 of 2025, 107 laps ……would have been good enough for 6th !
Wow,
Here’s a screenshot of the comparable track round last year & the improvements are quite staggering. Allowing for a couple of new cars in the mix, even drivers using the same cars now are showing 2, 3 even up to 6 laps improvement in 4 months.

Wow,
Here’s a screenshot of the comparable track round last year & the improvements are quite staggering. Allowing for a couple of new cars in the mix, even drivers using the same cars now are showing 2, 3 even up to 6 laps improvement in 4 months.
It took a whopping 111 laps this year to take out the win, and it was Adrian who did it of course showing that while he’s using the same car, he’s certainly not standing still on improving his pace. 1 lap back, and with 6 laps improvement from last September, was the writer on 110 laps, just managing to keep ahead of the new entry from Callan this year who took out 3rd on 109 laps after 1 body mount screw issue. So, allowing for this, there’s much improvement to come on his part as well. His new vehicle certainly has the pace the old Pink Pig was lacking.
Phil Kalbfell improved by 1 lap from his round winning total of last year, but this time his 108 laps was only good enough for 4th, and his total was shared with Schoee (5th) who debuted another new car with great success.
Bruce’s 106 lap total was one of the few who didn’t change his lap total at all from September, and this proved costly as his 6th place finish in 2025 was down on his 4th last year.
DB was next in line on 104, and a solid 7th, ahead of Rhys in the even noisier (if that’s possible) autumnal coloured livery on 103 laps & 8th place.
JB showed some good pace early, and his 102 laps was good enough for 9th, with Scott re-learning the track on his way to 10th place on 98 laps.
In 11th, Dave Gray was also on the pace on 94 laps, some 6 laps clear of Ben in 12th (88) & Tom in 13th on 86 laps for the night. Rob suffered from a dreaded lead wire issue, and this unluckily affected an otherwise good start. His total of 81 laps saw him finish 14th.
All very good signs for an even faster & more competitive Porsche Cup for 2025, and if this round is anything to go by, no driver can afford to be sitting on their laurels form last year. Improvement is a must to stay in the hunt !

Porsche Cup - Round 2 (February) Report
Porsche Cup round 2 this week, and from the results we saw in both classes Adrian will be volunteering to host every week!
As his last heat came to an end & he effortlessly cruised to a stop at the far end of the straight and in the process overtaking (at that point) the leading car parked on the previous corner, Adrian took out his 2nd win for the night.
The 124 laps he notched up was shared with myself, but as noted above, it was Adrian who took the place on track to log his 2nd win for the year in 2 rounds. As for the writer, it was yet another 2nd placing (2 in 2 rounds) and although both have been quite close results (1 lap difference over 2 rounds), it appears as though the defending champion still has that edge when it all comes down to it. The absence of regular top 3 combatant Callan Thomas this week meant that it was Phil who stepped up to the plate and with a lap total only 1 lap back (123) to grab the 3rd spot on the podium.
In 4th on 122 laps, Bruce Thomas was next in line and during one of his heats was engaging in some crafty gamesmanship with other drivers.
Comments such as “I’ll just need to wait for (insert name) to come off” being just one example of the way in which Bruce shrewdly but subtly puts pressure on the other drivers. Of course this cunning plan is undermined somewhat when Bruce himself is the driver to de-slot…….which is exactly what happened on this occasion! No doubt this humbling experience will do nothing to discourage him from the practice in the future however.
5th place went to the consistent Dave Schofield with his 2nd 5th in 2 races, and his total of 120 laps was matched by the ever improving Ben Lewis, however it was Schoee who took the place on track from Ben in 6th. Bens car looks to have very good pace, and has the promise to be a top 3 prospect in the coming rounds.
Rob Golley put together 3 solid rounds to notch up 118 laps, along with Rhys Filbee, however Rob took 7th on track ahead of Rhys in 8th. Both cars have good speed, but the competition in this series is extremely fierce and it only takes 1 or laps difference to drop down the results quite quickly.
DB grabbed 9th on 113 laps with JB rounding out the top 10 on his total of 111 laps. Scott also numbered 11 laps for 11th and Tom with 97 laps finished in 12th.
Blair was too scared of the speed to race this class……which were in general less than 1/10th of a second faster than the DTMs……..Step up Blair 😊

Porsche Cup - Round 3 (March) Report
Very early on in the 12 month Porsche Cup series, but we can already see some notable improvements from the 2024 end of year results.
The most obvious being the abandonment by Callan of his 2024 Pink Pig runner in favour of a more traditional & very smart Mizuno liveried car.
The switch has worked wonders and after an initial 3rd place in round 1 & a missed round 2, the full potential of the new weapon was finally unveiled in the March round 3 action.
Despite him still bleating about lack of grip, he managed to rack up some 87 laps with a best lap in the 5.8 range & very regular 5.9 times. This took the win quite convincingly with about 30 seconds still to run in his final heat. The margin to 2nd was 4 laps with 2nd place being fought out between 2 drivers on an 83 lap total.
After 2x 2nd place finishes in the first 2 rounds behind 2024 champion Adrian Gray, the writer might have been hoping for something better in Adrians absence. However, this was not to be & yet another 2nd was the best I could manage by just pipping Phil on track position and slotting him into 3rd.
Some hard decisions to be made on tyres in the upcoming rounds for some of us, and we’re all looking forward to seeing what eventuates between the revitalized Callan Thomas & Adrian Gray when both are on track at the same time.
In 4th, and a huge improver this week from his 10th place last round was JB on 82 laps, 1 lap t the good of DB in 5th on 81 laps. DB also showed good pace, and all signs point to a very close series with 1 laps separating positions 2-7 this week.
6th, again 1 lap back, was Schoee on 80 laps, with Ben taking 7th, and showing flashes of extremely good pace, on 79 laps.
8th in his more conservative liveried car, Rhys Filbee on 74 laps for the night, 3 laps clear of a battle for 9th place between Dave Gray & Tom on 71 laps. Dave won this in the end & it was Tom who rounded out the top 10. Scott was a withdrawal after completing 11 laps with a borrowed runner.

Race Report – Round 5
As incredible as it sounds, after the electrifying action that was present in the earlier F1 series, it almost felt a return to a more civilised, quieter class when the Revoslot Porsches got on track. Supposedly the “quick” class of the evening, after witnessing the likes of 5.3 second laps, the sight of the Revoslot GT2s going around in 5.9s or 6.0s was nowhere near as thrilling as usual.
In any case, it is still a class that lends itself to great racing, and the overall closeness of the field was a welcome change from the vast differences in laps that was spread over the F1 field earlier.
Closest of all was the battle for 1st this week, and it was very nervous writer watching on as the final heat of the night was run. As is usual for the host of the night, I had put myself in early so I could deal with supper duties while the rest of the field shuffled though. Which was fine & I managed to have a very decent run on all 4 lanes to set a lap count of 111, which incredibly was still standing on top of the list when I got back to the track from supper duties.
Sadly, I had also miscalculated somewhat during the driver rotations and had put Callan in at the very end of the nights heats. This was rather an oversight as Callan, in case you don’t know, quite likes a bit of grip. Which he had quite a lot of by the time he was on track. Final heat, and I could see his lap count rising by the handful every 10 seconds, until the timer ran out…..and found Callans car coming to a rest on exactly the same corner as my own car, on the same lap count (111). Which therefore meant a dead heat for 1st this week.
3 laps back & clear in 3rd was Ben on 108 laps in a vast improvement over his 5 rounds so far. His round 1 result of 12th place seems like an age ago, and he has been on a steady improve ever since.
4th place was a battle between Rob & Bruce with a 106 lap total, however it was Rob who took the place on Track from Bruce in 5th. 6th was another huge battle, with 3 cars finishing around the same corner (it was like a car park up there) and a shared total of 106 laps. Scott took 6th in the end from a tied 7th place between Caine & JB.
Adrian once again had an unlucky result this week as his inexplicable lack of power affected his result. 102 laps was his total & 9th place overall.
In 10th, Luke had a great run on a couple of the brackets, and a best total of 26 laps on Blue showed that he was not far away from the top half of the field at all. Sharing Lukes 99 lap total, Rhys seemed to have some issues on yellow, and this cost him dearly and his 11th place was the result.
In 12th Dave Gray again had good runs on Blue & Green, but Red & yellow proved his undoing and contributed to his total of 92 laps.

Race Report - Round 7 & Series summary
So, it all came down to this….after a torrid 12 months of racing in the Revoslot Porsche cup, it was time for the final round of the year. And in the wash up it seems like it was another successful running for the class of car chosen for the latest incarnation of this long running series. In the past it has been the domain of such “wonderful” cars as the SCX GT3, Autoart GT3 & Ninco GT3, however 2 years ago the club made the somewhat radical decision to run the series based on the Revoslot Porsche GT2…..and what an inspired choice that has been. These metal chassied cars have been a pleasure to setup & (for the most part) drive, although the level of performance has hinged a great deal on tyres! (hey Adrian). This fact is very clearly highlighted in the results from these last 2 series.
The 2024 series was dominated by Adrian Gray, and his total of 8 wins from the 10 counted rounds saw him take a very convincing victory. In his wake and struggling with tyres that just wouldn’t quite scrub in were a very frustrated Callan Thomas (3rd) & an equally inconsistent Phil Kalbfell & myself in 4th & 5th.
What a difference a new year has made. With an entirely new car for Callan, and a years worth of tyre development for Phil & myself, there were early signs of a slight changing of the guard. The first 2 rounds this year it seemed as though not much had changed at the top end with Adrian taking out 2 wins. However, competitive results from Callan, Phil & myself suggested that it might be a closer series over the year.
Come round 4 though, & it seemed everything changed. Adrian's tyres seemed to drop off the edge very severely, while Callans were working up very very nicely as he took his first win of the year. I was lucky enough to grab a couple of wins in rounds 5 & 6, with Phil also pushing up into 2nd place finishes regularly. From the mid-point of the year then it really was a race in 3 for the series, with the likes of DB, Ben & Bruce all pushing up into the top bracket of drivers on regular occasions.
Adrian continued to fight manfully against the equipment, but sadly his series was done, and he was already looking forward to the years end & a new 2026 series by the time we got to August.
So, by the time we got to the pointy end of the series Callans car was simply too well developed and proved the be the dominant car in all but 1 round after June. It was with a convincing points lead that he approached the final round of the series, however there was just 1 caveat. His 2 missed rounds gave him no wriggle room at all going into this weeks round 12, and with both myself & Phil in a position to overtake him if there was any final round disaster (like not showing up) it was with baited breath that Phil & I watched the door of Dave Grays shed like hawks as the clock approached 7.25….
Annoyingly the door parted & Callan breezed in with just minutes to spare dashing all out hopes of a last minute, come from behind, series upset.
Anyway, after all this pre-amble, onto the racing for the night. And in an entirely predictable result Callan took out his final win for the year with a crushing 129 lap total to cement in his overall series win in emphatic fashion.
Just 2 laps down though, and a joker in the pack, Bens’s drive this week for 2nd (127 laps) showed that his car had more than enough sheer pace to have been far more competitive than it was this year. With some more consistency, and less fiddling around with controllers, his car will be the one to watch as we think about the 2026 series.
As has been the case for most of the 2nd half of the year it was left to myself & Phil to be fighting over the final podium spot this week. In a result typical of recent battles, we both finished on 121 laps, with just the length of half a straight between us in the end. Luckily it was the writer who took 3rd this week with Phil in a very good 4th.
Dave Schofield has had some very solid dives this year as well, and another one this week saw him take out 5th on 119 laps, just 1 lap ahead of an epic 3 way fight between JB, Rhys & DB for 6th to 8th. All 3 finishing on 118 laps, but with JB grabbing the result on track (6th) from Rhys (7th) & DB in 8th.
Just 1 lap down on 117 was Rob Golley in 9th, with the exasperated Adrian Gray taking out 10th on 109 laps for the night. I’m suggesting there may be some new tyres on the agenda for Adrian.
In 11th, on 107 laps, Tom Males, and in 12th this week was Dave Gray on 105 laps for the final round.
Series Summary – So a very strong win for Callan in the end, with his total 7 wins & 246 points taking out this prestigious trophy to the first time. In 2nd, myself with 3 wins for the year & 240 points, and in 3rd, Phil, with 1 win & a 235 series point total.
Dave Bantoft, Ben Lewis & Bruce (when he was here !) were the best of the rest, and it will be very interesting to see how the cars perform as we turn our attention to a new series in 2026.
Who will have brand new models? Who will have new tyres? Whose tyres will work?
All these questions and more TBA !
Well done all & see you in the New Year.
