An Easter Message (and light-hearted Race 4 report!)
…….and he said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead”
Luke 24: 46
And verily I say unto you, so it came to pass that not on the third day, but on the thirty third day, Sir Robin of Golley rose from the death-bed and thus returned to the fray. And yet diminished not were his powers, and his opponents he smote from the track with the verve & skill of olden days & behold, his enemies (cars) scattered before him on every outside lane.
Mighty were those who could resist him, yet there were some who did and their names shall be listed in the annuls of history. First among them was Phil of Kalbfell who stood tall & recorded a grand total of 113 laps, just ahead of Thomas the First on 112 & Sir Robins greatest foe, Dave Bantoft in third on 110 laps. John the Batich rose manfully to record 109 laps & finish 4th, ahead of Thomas the Second in 5th & Rhys Filbee in 6th both on 108.
Robin of Golleys comeback was complete, and his total of 106 laps thrust him into 7th position, 4 laps to the good of Dave Schofield in 8th on 102, and Gray the First, 9th on 101. “Doubting” Thomas (Males) battled proudly to finish in the top 10 on 93 laps and was well clear of Gray the Second, who suffered many grievous blows during his combat, and eventually had to retire from the battlefield in 11th position on 47 laps.
The less said about the 12th placeholder at the end of the affray, the better. Malcolm of O’May was wretchedly crucified and shamefully found himself glued to the bottom of the table this week, ironically by a lack of (half decent) glue. A total of 2 laps, may be a new low point in the pages of the HMCC history books.
Race 5 - Stratton Valley - 24/5/22

Race 5 report
In the Ninco Porsche Cup round for this month:
Irene files a complaint about Joey to the police, hoping this will urge him to get help. Will Hayley go through with the graffiti challenge? Justine is shocked to find Vinnie kissing Sally in the diner.
Detailed round Recap –
Hayley’s late for her meeting with Sam. She finds him waiting, and he’s smirking. She asks him what’s he’s so happy about. He points to a man attempting to scrub the graffiti off his walls. Sam persuades Hayley to do some tagging with, just to try it to see what it’s like, just once. Hayley goes home to pick up her spray cans, while Sam is in the bathroom. Irene goes into Joey’s room. Hayley hides the cans quickly behind her back. Unfortunately for her, Irene is already suspicious. Irene is very annoyed, and has a breakdown. She’s crying, and begs Hayley, making her promise not to do any more graffiti. Hayley reluctantly agrees. She tells Sam that she cannot do any tagging. Sam asks her how Irene is. She replies that Irene is on the verge of a nervous breakdown.
Irene decides to take a sickie, and calls Fisher to let him know. Hayley finds Irene up with a large bruise around her right eye. Irene explains to her how she got it, from the fridge door. Hayley believes her, warning her to be careful with the fridge. Marilyn calls over to Irene to see how she is. She sees the bruise. Irene tells her about the fridge door. Marilyn sees through her when she mentions the freezer as well. She knows Joey has hurt her and persuades her to call the police. Irene refuses to do so, and Marilyn rings her husband. Fisher calls over, telling her she has only two options – to call the police to take Joey, or to suffer, as there’s no telling what he might do next. He persuades her to call the police, for the sake of herself, Joey and the others living in the house.
Justine is feeling jealous of Tom, especially the way his admirer, Donna talks about him. Donna talks about the match tomorrow. Justine asks Tiegan what is she talking about. She is surprised to hear that there’s a match on tomorrow, as she has not heard anything of it. Tiegan is back at school on her second day since she left the band. Fisher talks about an essay, and the work he wants his class to do. Tiegan does not have a clue, turning to Justine for answers. Justine reminds Tiegan that she was away, and they had covered that topic during her absence. She offers Tiegan the use of her notes to go over what she missed.
Jesse tells Alf the latest news about Vinnie and Sally. Alf stunned by this publication, asking how could Sally be interested in a no-hoper like Vinnie! Jesse informs him that they are coming to the Diner together later on, and suggests that they show no reaction to their relationship. Vinnie and Sally are nervous when they come into the Diner. To their amazement, and their surprise, no-one is turning heads or talking about them! Both Sally and Vinnie find this reception unusual. To get attention, he throws sugar onto the floor. It does get Alf’s response, but not the one they hope for. However, it does get the response of someone else, of which they are unaware – Justine has just walked into the Diner, discovering the identity of his mystery lover…
………and in racing news from the evening;
Adrian Gray took out round 5 of the Ninco Porsche Cup with a much improved showing this month on 77 laps, a full 2 laps clear of 2nd place getter & Mr Consistent, Dave Bantoft on 75. On the same lap total but just pipped into 3rd was another improving driver, John Batich . He will be one to keep an eye on going through the year. Particularly as DB seemed to be slightly concerned about his car holding together when he found out that instead of the usual 7 rounds, this series is to be held over the entire year with 12 rounds ! In 4th place & on 74 laps was Bruce Thomas, who I feel might have had a much better result had he not been distracted by regaling all & sundry with the current comings & goings in Summer Bay and wistfully dreaming about the Kate Ritchie years.
Rob Golley put in a good show to finish 5th on 72 laps, 2 laps clear of Callan Thomas (who also may have had other things on his mind !) in 6th. In 7th with 69 laps was Dave Schofield, again 2 laps to the good of 8th placegetter Dave Gray (67) & 9th place, Phil Kalbfell also on 67 laps. Top 10 went to Thomas males in a good, consistent drive on 65 laps followed by the first competitive drive from Scott Wayman who finished 11th on 56 laps for the evening…….
In other news - the writer was a professional marshal this week.
